+双指向性のマイクロフォンを水平方向同じ位置、角度を90度の互い違いに配置して録音する。

+同じポイントで全指向性のマイクロフォンを追加するとダブルMS録音をやっていることに等しくなり、前後左右四方向の任意の指向性を後からレンダリングできる。

+さらに垂直方向の双指向性マイクを加えれば、1次のアンビソニックBフォーマットを録音していることになる。
